THE YEAR END FUNCTION - HOUSE OF RIBS, BOKSBURG 16 NOVEMBER 2007

Somepeoplelike having their food swimming in gravy! Well, some of the latecomersended up swimming in their seats whilst they had theirfood.Unfortunately, the restaurant had been flooded in the outsidesectionafter heavy rain just before the function. Nevertheless, we hada largeturnout and a very good evening amongst all our friends and wewerepleased to see a lot of new faces.

MikeDel Fratefound the venue for us. It has a separate section on the sideof therestaurant which seats about 75 people. The restaurant has asplendidcarvery which costs R50.00 per head and one can go back for asmanyhelpings as one likes. It is definitely not conducive to those ondiet!Meals for kids were at half price, and this included a colddrink. Ifanyone went home feeling hungry, it could only be their ownfault, because there was enough food to feed another 100 people or more.

JohnTonkinarrived with his wife Judy and signed up as a new member on thenight. They are both most welcome and we hope to see them at futureoutings.

Laterin theevening, Albert van Heerden made a speech and asked all memberstosupport the National Rally next year. If all those who attendedcouldmake it to the Nationals, plus many others who have indicated thattheywould like to join us, we will have a fantastic event. (SeeunderNational Rally for details).

Thefood was excellent andthe company even better! It is really so good tohave large numbers ofour members getting together for an evening offun and laughter. Oh,yes! I nearly forgot to mention that a magiciancame into our sectionand entertained us for some time with somestunning tricks, which lefteveryone amazed.

After dessert, on came the music, provided by Terence Redmond and some of the members danced on into the night.

Allinall, it was an event which you should try not to miss. Perhaps theheavyrain caused some people to stay at home on the night, buthopefully, wewill have an even better turnout next year!
