HERITAGE MOTOR SHOW IN VEREENIGING 1 JULY 2007

Itwas a lovely day for our trip down to Vereeniging to participate in theHeritage Motor Show. We all met at the Block House on the R59 and someof us had a quick breakfast before everyone set off in convoy for ourdestination. Being in the middle of winter, the countryside was verydry. It didn't take too long to reach the venue, which was inVereeniging and not too difficult to find.

Insidethe grounds, our Morris Minors were lined up near the entrance and theydrew many spectators to our stand. It was disappointing that there werenot many clubs being featured. Most of the cars on display were of the"hotrod" type. Certainly not in keeping with our Club's image. Therewere also a few "hot" Minors.

Itwas very pleasant to meet our members who reside in Vereeniging. JohnLawton was there to meet us and he introduced us to George Anderson, who arrived in his beautifully prepared '49 low light maroon Tourer(Convertible). We hope to see him and his family at our forthcomingoutings.

After enjoying alunch in the grounds with our friends and amid much chatter, we packedup at one thirty and headed off after John Lawton, who took us acrossto the Emerald Casino Resort to have a look at the venue for nextyear's 2008 National Rally. It certainly is an excellent choice. All ofyou will have received brochures of the venue, so enough said for themoment.

At the resort, wewere welcomed by the staff and given complimentary drinks and snacks. That was a most welcome gesture and appreciated by all of us. Thanks toJohn Lawton for arranging the visit for us. We were taken to thebungalows which will be home to us for the few days of the NationalRally. After we had been shown around, we all headed off for home, having had another enjoyable day in the company of our friends.

Thosewho joined us for the day were Harry and Sanet Meintjes, Fanie andMadeleine Meintjes with their families, George Anderson, Neville, Lauraand Stacey Josman, Tommy, Sharon, Ashley and Adrian Smith, Mike andNorma del Frate, Rusty and Dawn Clover, John and Sharon Bedford, CliveRichardson and Denny McQueen, Jorrie and Amanda Jordaan, John Lawton,John Webb, Dave Smith, Craig and Marj Stacey, Terence and NoeleenRedmond, Gary and Katrina Dodds, Sara Harper with her two boys, LawsonFlint and yours truly.

Noteveryone made it in their Minors. Some arrived in modern tin, but atleast they were there. Please note that there are many folk who arehaving their Minors restored or repaired. This is happening all thetime, so please join us in modern tin for a fun filled day. We alwaysenjoy being in your company and would like to meet those who have neverattended an outing.
