BRAAI AT THE ISCOR HEADQUARTERS IN PRETORIA WEST -2 SEPTEMBER 2007

Aftermuch head scratching, the place chosen for the day was at the braaiarea of the old Iscor Headquarters. The place is now known as themining conglomerate 'Exxaro' and is quite close to the Heartfelt arena.

The venue has a neat littlelappa, with plenty of chairs and tables, clean toilets and a kitchenwith fridges. It is very secluded, with sufficient space for theyounger folk to enjoy ball games and have fun. It only costs R500 tohire the area for the day, which is quite reasonable. Finding asuitable venue these days for braaing or picnicing in decentsurroundings is quite difficult.

Theday went well, with Neville, Laura, Neville's dad and Tracy leading theway for the Johannesburg members from the Shell Ultra City near theSamrand off ramp. When the group arrived to join the Pretoria folk whowere already there, we were thrilled to see that Lawry Bartle and ChrisSpinks had also come for the day, after a long absence. Even better,Chris attended in his recently restored light blue

Traveller, which he says goes very well, even though he has not had todo any work on the engine or gearbox.

Tommy,Sharon (looking slim and trim) and the Smith boys, Dawn and RustyClover, Jorrie and Amanda Jordaan, Terence and Noeleen Redmond, Johnand Sharon Bedford, John Webb and Dave Smith were all there. There were9 Minors in all.

In hisnormal, casual manner, Tommy got the fire started and all the guysgathered round and did their bit. John Webb brought some tasty burgerpatties, which he had bought in Benoni. Laura chased us off to find icecreams for pudding. Being nearly 15h00 and with not too many shops openin Pretoria, we weren’t optimistic about finding ice creams.Fortunately, we found a petrol station to buy from and I must admit itwas a good idea, with all of us enjoying the dessert. After a finalround of whiskeys, forced down our throats by the ladies, we packed upand headed home, feeling nice and relaxed after a pleasant day withgood friends, companions and fellow Morris enthusiasts.
